Just a quick post to note that it is possible to have a new site obtain a PageRank of 7 in just a couple of months. Need proof? Check out the PR for Danny Sullivan's Search Engine Land. It's a 7 and the site launched in the middle of November. Thanks to Small Business SEM for noticing this one.
So while Google's Sandbox is a reality, in my opinion, it is possible to beat it if your site receives a lot of quality inbound links and if the site builds up a substantial amount of content in short order e.g. 400+ posts like Search Engine Land did.
On a related note, it's taken about a month for an existing blog of mine to regain half (2) of its PageRank after I restructured the URL format as part of a move from a custom blogging platform to WordPress. I'm still hoping that it'll regain it's former rank during the next Google update.
